Matlen Silver's Environmental Policy

It is Matlen Silver’s environmental policy to conduct business in a manner that is compatible with the environmental needs of the communities in which it operates. Our company complies with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, in addition to applying responsible standards where such regulations do not exist. Matlen Silver is committed to a continuous effort to improve environmental performance wherever appropriate in daily activities. We encourage respect for the environment and emphasize the importance of each employee’s responsibility in applying environmentally friendly practices. We believe even small actions can have a great effect on the future of our environment, from the use of eco-friendly inks and office supplies to power saving practices such as turning off lights when employees are not in the office.  Matlen Silver promotes the ideal that every person can make a difference; we encourage everyone to make that difference today.

Our Green Standards and Practices Include:

  • Eco-friendly Inks and Papers
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs
  • The use of recycled products such as napkins and cups
  • Energy saving measures including monitoring and logging fridge and freezer temperature controls
  • Environmentally friendly cleaning products
  • Temperature adjustments when employees are not in the building
  • Light sensors that turn off lights when offices have been vacant for an extended period of time
  • Promotion of recycling during meal times
  • A decrease in our consumption of paper and an increase in our usage of paper that contains recycled content
  • The use of various alternatives to disposing hazardous electronic waste
  • An increased use of environmentally friendly stationery and supplies
  • The use of a water filtration system, rather than individual bottles

Matlen Silver's Diversity Policy

Our Supplier Diversity program encourages the use of Minority owned, Women owned, Veteran owned, Service disabled veteran owned and SBA defined small business vendors as suppliers.

We track direct hires by Minority status as well as administer a program where we work with a select group of 3rd party Diversity suppliers to source candidates for specific customers. These programs are customized by client and the relevant spend characteristics are tracked and reported when requested. We are always on the lookout for high quality minority suppliers.

Matlen Silver's Employee Driven Awareness

Matlen Silver has started a brand new Give Back program. Inspiration derives from the idea of giving back to the community and helping charities by fundraising and participating in events. This organic, employee driven program aims to aid charities that affect Matlen Silver employees and their family members. Each year, Matlen Silver hopes to participate in two or three events to benefit the chosen charities. By participating in events and donating to charities, employees of Matlen Silver are fostering a sense of community and raising awareness in and out of the office.

Our employees are proud to work for a company that fosters a sense of community through giving back. John, a Resource Manager at Matlen Silver, is especially proud of the new Give Back program. He explains that "as a Type I Diabetic, it has been absolutely stimulating to see Matlen take a stand for the fight to cure diabetes. Through this program, I know Matlen will continue to not only fight the fight on diabetes, but take part in other programs to help those in desperate need and do their part in the community.” Another Resource Manager here at Matlen Silver, Andrew, says the Give Back program “shows that our company cares about their employees outside of work.” Matlen Silver realizes its corporate responsibility and that as a company with such caring employees, together they can make a difference locally and globally.

Tour de Cure

This fall, Matlen Silver employees will partake in the Tour de Cure sponsored by the American Diabetes Association in Brielle, NJ. This event allows participants to choose the distance of their bike ride because it is not a race. No matter the distance a participant rides, they are raising money to prevent and cure a disease that affects over 24 million Americans, including one of our own employees. A team of riders has already been created by employees here at Matlen Silver and they are aiming to achieve their fundraising goal to give a company donation to the American Diabetes Association.

Local Blood Drive

Matlen Silver will also be participating in a blood drive this fall in honor of an employee’s family member who has leukemia. To donate blood, employees of Matlen Silver, as well as clients and other members of the local community, can participate by coming to our office location. Blood is in high demand--someone, somewhere always needs blood. Matlen Silver is aware of the blood shortage and encourages its employees, clients, and nearby companies to give a different kind of a donation - a blood donation. By doing so, we can all contribute to the blood supply in order to assist those in need of this precious gift.

Relay for Life

Next spring, employees at Matlen Silver will be taking part in the Relay for Life events held by the American Cancer Society. Matlen Silver employees can start or join teams of people at a local Relay in which each team must have a member on the track at all times during the event. By partaking in a 24 hour Relay, employees have the chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer.
