Gating Software Development Methodology
Having the agility, the technical depth, and the business acumen to

exclusive Gating Software Development Methodology (GSDM) to manage
its software development projects. This methodology mitigates common
risk factors that are common in the software development process and
leverages the visualization of requirements and frequent end-user
checkpoints to ensure that the application under development
satisfies end-user requirements.
The following provides a high-level overview of GSDM:
Engage - at
this stage we discover, define, and describe the project scope
and estimate required resources resulting in the development of
a detailed statement of work.
Define - upon
project inception we define features and functions, gather
product requirements, build our project plan and assign required
resources; this phase completes with a design demo.
Design - next
we build use-cases to support business justification. We then
develop detailed architecture for the database, functional
software, and the infrastructure that will be required to
support the ultimate product. If advisable, we deliver a
proof-of-concept pilot at this stage. We do not proceed until we
have successfully delivered a Design and Architecture demo to
the client.
Develop - with
all the planning, design, and assets at hand we commence the
process of actually developing the application. This includes
component implementation, unit testing, review of all SQL and
other coding elements, all leading to software integration,
testing, and an application audit. Successful completion of the
Application demo will signify that we are ready for the Quality
Assurance (QA) process.
Test - all
Matlen Silver projects really undergo two phases of testing. In
this first test phase we perform functional testing, including
performance and security tests. At the same time, user and other
customer documentation and guides are produced. We conclude this
phase by successfully completing an Application demo which
confirms that we are ready for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Pre-Production - this
is the final and most critical testing phase prior to actual
deployment of the new software. In this stage we perform
Application Integration, Assure Support Readiness, deliver
End-User Training leading to User Acceptance testing (UAT).
Based on lessons learned throughout these processes we develop
Release Notes and provide one last application demo to
demonstrate that we are ready for deployment.
Deploy - finally,
the new application is deployed into the production environment.
Successful release is confirmed and documented, then
communicated to all internal and external stakeholders. The
application is live in the customer environment.
